The original Bay Area Funeral Society established by Earnest Landauer in 1963 was a not for profit consumer advocacy group that contracted with local mortuaries to provide low cost mortuary and cremation services. Earnest passes away in 2006 and left his member files to his close friend and original contractor Del Reynolds of Bayview Mortuary. When Del closed Bayview Mortuary he entrusted  the  files to Pacific Interment Service also a long time Bay Area Funeral society contractor. The files remain in the care of Pacific Interment Service to this day. Pacific Interment Service continues to service Bay Area Funeral Society members at a discount at its mortuary and crematory located at 1094 Yerba Buena Avenue Emeryville Ca. 94608.
